Shawn Nelson, CFP®, CAS®
Shawn joined MWBoone and Associates, LLC. in March 2000. His primary areas of specialty include advising clients, fee-only financial planning, and implementing portfolio management strategies. In addition, he supervises the team of advisors and works closely with Michael W. Boone, CFP®, CFA to shape the company’s future.
He is a 2013, 2014, and 2015 Five Star Wealth Manager as published in Seattle Magazine. By keeping focused on client’s needs and desires, Shawn designs a customized plan to work toward their goals and dreams. He especially enjoys building long-term relationships with clients based upon trust, professionalism and service.
He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and a Certified Annuity Specialist® (CAS®). Shawn maintains FINRA Series 7, 66, and Principal Series 24 registrations through LPL Financial. He has been an Investment Advisor Representative through LPL Financial since 2000. Additionally, he holds licenses for life and disability with Washington state. He earned his B.A. (Business Administration) degree in Finance from the University of Washington and his CFP Certification Professional Education Program through the College for Financial Planning. Shawn earned his CAS® graduate-level designation through the Institute of Business & Finance. He meets several levels of continuing education requirements annually and is a member of the Financial Planning Association. Shawn volunteered to meet one-on-one with local residents during the inaugural Seattle Financial Planning Days in 2010.
Shawn has 15 years of investment experience, of which the last 12 years are with MWBoone and Associates, LLC. His past experience include being a sales associate for a major New York Stock Exchange member firm, an analyst for a independent, institutional investment consulting firm, and as a financial advisor for a publicly traded investment management company.
Shawn and his wife, RoZanne, have been married since 2001. They have three young boys, Austin, Andrew and Alex. Shawn enjoys sport activities (including coaching), being outdoors, church, landscaping and family trips to the ocean.
